Kids Fishing Derby

Saturday May 12, 2018 9am-2pm

Bring a picnic and join us for a Kids’ Fishing Derby on Saturday, May 12, from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm at Malakoff Diggins State Historic Park, presented as a collaborative effort by California State Parks, Gold Country Fly Fishers, and the Friends of North Bloomfield and Malakoff Diggins. The derby is for children up to age 15, and with no charge to participate. To register (limited to the first 50 registrants), please click here. Participants need to supply their own spinning rods and reels, with a three fish limit per registered child.

Did you come to our recent Humbug Day Celebration on June 10, 2017? A grand time was had by all! Mark your calendar for next year’s event: June 9, 2018.  See the exciting and controversial hydraulic gold mining era of the 1870’s! 

Enjoy music, wagon rides, barbecue picnic, craft demonstrations, gold panning, candle making and tin punching, old-fashioned family games, and prizes, storytelling, living history tours of historic North Bloomfield, the world’s shortest parade and water blasting of the old hydraulic water cannon!

Come celebrate the Labor Day weekend with us on the Skidmore lawn in the old historic town of North Bloomfield.  Have an ice cream cone on us and participate in old-fashioned games for all ages.
